ZANU PF candidates contesting in the forthcoming local authority by-elections scheduled for 3 December this year are confident of thunderously winning the elections.

Ten by-elections will be held in different local authorities including Gweru Municipality, Binga Rural District Council and Mberengwa Rural District Council.

ZANU PF candidate for Gweru ward four by-elections, Gibson Chingwadza told this publication that all was set for the Party’s victory as the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party has little to offer to the electorate.

“We are winning the by-elections. We are using these by-elections as a warm up for the 2023 harmonised elections. We are not afraid of CCC as they have little to offer to the electorate. Come 3 December, Gweru ward four will be under the leadership of a ZANU PF councillor,” said Chingwadza.

Mberengwa Ward 28 ZANU PF candidate, Sthethindaba Zhou said that the CCC candidate, Nash Nkomo was wasting his time as he would be heavily defeated at the forthcoming polls.

“Nkomo should save the little resource he has because he is not going to win. I have assessed our chances as ZANU PF and I am confident that we are going to win. Mberengwa is a ZANU PF stronghold since 1980. We will win big come December 3,” said Zhou.

Another ZANU PF candidate in the Binga ward 10 by-elections, Ronald Muleya said that CCC had no chance of defeating ZANU PF in that ward.

“CCC has no chance to defeat ZANU PF in this ward. ZANU PF is a people’s Party and of late it has been implementing a number of life changing projects in Binga. The people of Binga now know that development can only come through ZANU PF, hence they will vote for it in the forthcoming by-elections.

Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has announced that the by-elections that were supposed to be held in Ward 8 of Victoria Falls Municipality were no longer going to be held as the MDC Alliance has advised the Commission that it had erroneously recalled the incumbent councillor for that ward.
