Rogue CCC youths disrupt Mahere’s presser

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) fissures continue to widen as rogue youths under the command of Takudzwa Ngadziore yesterday cordoned off the Media Centre in the capital to block that party’s interim spokesperson, Fadzayi Mahere from holding a Press conference.

A source who spoke to this publication said that Mahere is fighting for political limelight with her deputy, Gift ‘Ostallos’ Siziba. Siziba reportedly engaged Ngadziore to mobilise some touts to disrupt the press conference that was set to be addressed by Mahere.

“The disruption of the press conference is a manifestation of the widening fissures within CCC. What transpired yesterday had the finger prints of Siziba as he was the one who directed Ngadziore to organise youths to disrupt Mahere’s presser. Mahere and Siziba are both fighting for limelight and attention from Chamisa (Nelson),” said the source.

The source said that the youths who caused chaos at the Media Centre were dropped off at that venue by Ngadziore at around 8 am yesterday and they were seen drinking some opaque beer for them to get intoxicated before the presser.

When the presser was about to start, the visibly drunk youths ransacked the venue and destroyed CCC banners that were pitched forcing Mahere, interim secretary for elections, Ian Makone and his deputy, Ellen Shiriyedenga to escape through the back door.

“The violence was so intense that it forced Mahere, Makone and Shiriyedenga to escape through the backdoor. The youths were shouting that Mahere should stop addressing a press conference that had no blessings from Chamisa,” said the source.

The same source added that the narrative by CCC that the presser was disrupted by ZANU PF youths was an attempt by that party to cover up the internal fissures.

According to the source, Chamisa should address the growing animosity between Mahere and Siziba as the tension might affect that party’s mobilisation drive ahead of the 2023 plebiscite.

Meanwhile, the disrupted press conference had been called by Mahere to update the media on issues to do with elections as the country prepares for polls next year.
