Chamisa brews another lie in Maseru

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader, Nelson Chamisa has continued with his series of outrageous lies before every election as he recently told the newly inaugurated Lesotho Prime Minister, Sam Matekane that CCC had the highest number of registered voters in the Zimbabwe’s Voters’ Roll.

A source who spoke to this publication said last week Chamisa had a private interface with Matekane whom he told that CCC had gained ground in the Zimbabwe’s political landscape with 80 percent of registered voters being CCC members.

“Chamisa told Matekane that his party now commands 80 percent of the registered voters while the ruling ZANU PF party only commands a paltry 20 percent. Chamisa further claimed that ZANU PF has purchased 3000 all-terrain vehicles for the 2023 campaigns and pleaded with Matekane to assist CCC to acquire campaign vehicles for his party to match ZANU PF pound for pound,” said the source.

The source added that it was baffling that Chamisa would claim that Zimbabwe registered voters were shared between CCC and ZANU PF when the political landscape has other players such as the MDC-T, LEAD, FEEZ, among many others who also have followings.

The source added that Chamisa further asserted that his electoral victory in 2023 was guaranteed as the Americans have assured him that they will assist CCC to safeguard the Voters’ Roll, secure the ballot and protect CCC electoral victory.

According to the source, Chamisa told Matekane that the Americans told him that they were ready to help him win the 2023 presidential elections, the same way they assisted Zambia’s Hakainde Hichilema and Malawi’s Lazarus Chakwera.

The source said that Chamisa further lied to Matekane that regional leaders were in support of his presidential bid and he singled out Presidents Hichilema and Chakwera as the ones on the forefront of backing him to dethrone President Mnangagwa.

However, political analyst Terrence Chipwanya said that it had become a habit for Chamisa to brew a lie after lie before elections just to hoodwink his supporters and sympathisers into believing that he has massive support.

“We are not surprised by Chamisa’s assertions that 80 percent of Zimbabwe’s registered voters are from his party. Remember, this is the same Chamisa who once lied that he met with the then America’s President, Donald Trump and was promised US$15 billion. The is again the same Chamisa who once lied that he was hired by Rwandese President, Paul Kagame to develop that country’s ICT policy. Lying is now in his DNA,” said Chipwanya.

Meanwhile, respected pan African research network, Afrobarometer has predicted that President Mnangagwa 2023 will triumph again in the forthcoming polls. The survey conducted in June this year revealed that over half of the country’s population have faith in President Mnangagwa’s leadership and were ready to vote for him in the coming plebiscite.
