Varun Beverages and Inscor Group are set to expand their plants, a move that is likely to end Delta Beverages’ monopoly.
A source who spoke to this publication said that Inscor Group would soon set up an opaque beer plant in Ruwa.
“Innscor Group is set to establish an opaque beer plant in Ruwa for its Probottlers, in partnership with Heineken, an international known beer brand for manufacturing and distribution. Furthermore, Innscor- Group is in the process of constructing Buffalo Brewery in Stapleford area in Nyabira. If all these expansion programmes by Innscor are successful, it will create employment,” said the source.
The source added that Varun Beverages was in the process of engaging in multiple projects that are set to bring millions of dollars into the economy.
In its bid to expand and be a force to reckon with in the beverages industry, Varun Beverages has agreed on a deal with NV Group of India and Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (ARDA) which is worth US $100 million.
The source added that Varun Beverages also has a project licensed by ZIDA that is going to be situated at Magudu Estate in Chiredzi where they will manufacture alcoholic beverages.
Meanwhile, in the backdrop of these investments by Varun and Innscor Group, Delta Beverages has embarked on an initiative to regroup and restrategise in a bid to counter strong competition from Varun Beverages and Innscor Group.
The source said that Delta Beverages had started re-strategizing in an attempt to reclaim the lost market share mainly as a result of proliferation of low priced offerings.
The same source added that Delta Beverages was in the process of expanding both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages manufacturing operations to protect itself from growing competition.
