Biti accused of being a misogynist

As factional fights within the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) continue unabated, that party’s interim co-deputy president, Tendai Biti has been accused of being a misogynistic person.

A source who spoke to this publication said that there had been complaints within CCC that Biti used vulgar and denigrating words when referring to women, particularly Fadzayi Mahere, Joanna Mamombe and Cecilia Chimbiri.

“Biti always uses foul language when referring to some women within the party. He has much hatred for Fadzayi Mahere whom he continues to refer as hure ra Chamisa. Maybe his hatred for Mahere emanates from the rumour that he is likely to be replaced as vice president by Mahere,” said the source.

The source added that Biti had been telling his close associates that the Mugwazo mobilisation strategy had failed to gain traction as some members were sabotaging the program.

According to the source, Biti, together with some members of the Maruva Cabal have been complaining to that party’s interim director in the Organising Department, Farai Chinobva that Cecilia Chimbiri and Joanna Mamombe have been lying that they were taking the Mugwazo mobilisation strategy to the rural areas.

“The Maruva Cabal, led by Biti, has been complaining that Mamombe and Chimbiri were sabotaging the Mugwazo strategy by lying that they were working with rural Change Champions when they were doing nothing.  Biti has been telling Chaibva that the Mugwazo strategy was being sabotaged by tumahure tuviri, referring to Mamombe and Chimbiri,” said the source.

Meanwhile, there are reports that a night of long knives is beckoning within the CCC as Chamisa is expected to announce an interim National Standing Committee (NSC) that will exclude some party bigwigs.
