Fierce Government critic and opposition activist, Hopewell Chin’ono has distanced himself from the affairs of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) despite being, at one time, a de facto spokesperson of same.
Chin’ono tweeted yesterday that he was no longer focusing on opposition politics as he now shifts his focus on national issues.
However, Chin’ono’s statement came at a time when there are reports that he has fallen out with Nelson Chamisa as he was likely to join the newly formed Third Way.
“Each time I comment on opposition politics, I am insulted or sub-tweeted. I have taken a decision not to comment anymore on party political issues. So those asking me to comment on the election results, I’m sorry those days ended last week. Only interested in national issues,” said Chin’ono.
As Chin’ono continues to distance himself from CCC, there are also reports that prominent CCC member popularly known as Madzibaba VeShanduko has also ditched the opposition movement to join ZANU PF.
A source who spoke to this publication said that Madzibaba VeShanduko told ZANU PF Youth League’s deputy Political Commissar, Taurai Kundishaya that he regreted associating with CCC as he benefited nothing from that association.
The source added that Madzibaba VeShanduko narrated to Kundishaya that CCC had no direction and had very slim chances of winning the forthcoming elections.
“Madzibaba VeShanduko said that he regreted joining CCC as that party had no political direction and strategy. He said his association with CCC had brought him nothing but misery and poverty. Madzibaba has vowed to officially join ZANU PF and be one of its active foot soldiers ahead of the 2023 elections,” said the source.
Efforts to get a comment from CCC interim national spokesperson, Fadzayi Mahere were futile as her mobile phones were not reachable.
