ZANU PF Mashonaland Central Provincial Chairperson and Mazowe West legislator, Cde Kazembe Kazembe, last week brought smiles to the people of Amatola area in his constituency who had been facing water challenges for some time.
People who spoke to this publication said the borehole commissioned by Cde Kazembe at Amatola in Mazowe West constituency incited wild celebration of those in attendance.
“We are grateful to Cde Kazembe for the borehole. It will go a long way in alleviating water challenges in our area. Before the installation of this borehole by Cde Kazembe, we were buying drinking water for US$1 per two buckets and those without money were fetching water from unprotected sources. However, Cde Kazembe installed this borehole for us and we now have safe water to drink,” said one Miss Lilian Mhodzi.
Another resident of Amatola, Mr Lloyd Tembedzani, thanked the legislator for the swift response to their water crisis.
“When we heard that Mai (Catherine) Chirongwe had informed Cde Kazembe of our water crisis, we just thought that it might take some time for the crisis to be addressed. However, within a week a borehole was sunk and installed. This is a clear sign that the New Dispensation led by President Mnangagwa has people at heart,” said Tembedzani.
Contacted for a comment, Cde Kazembe said human survival depended on the availability of water and the Government of President Mnangagwa thrived on uplifting people’s lives.
“The Government of President Mnangagwa will not live anyone behind and will not tire of its responsibility to deliver best services to the people. Human survival is dependent on water, thus the installation of that borehole had multi-facet benefits to the local people. It supports balanced economic development. The development of projects such as boreholes, are part of President Mnangagwa’s endeavor to make people’s lives more comfortable,” said Cde Kazembe.
Two weeks ago, the District Medical Officer at Mt Darwin Hospital, Dr George Mapiye, applauded Cde Kazembe for assisting in the renovations of Mt Darwin mortuary that had not been functional for almost two years. Dr Mapiye described Cde Kazembe as a generous giver who swiftly responded to any call for help.
The New Dispensation is implementing life changing programmes across the country as it seeks to achieve an Upper Middle Income Economy status by 2030.
