…..or face de-registration for non-compliance
Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) operating in Harare have been directed that all their operations and clearance are now domiciled with the Provincial Development Co-ordinator and that they should submit their work plans for 2021 to the same office, or face de-registration for non-compliance.
The position was taken after it was noted that many NGOs in Harare were conducting activities contrary to what they signed and registered for.
In a Press Statement yesterday, Harare Metropolitan Provincial Development Co-ordinator Mr Tafadzwa Muguti directed the NGOs to submit information relating to their activities in the province by 9 July 2021.
“It was noted with high degree of concern that many Organisations operating in Harare Metropolitan Province in particular NGOs, have been straying from mandates stated in their respective Memorandum of Understanding Understanding (MoUs) suffice to say that such behaviour represents a breach of Memorandum of Agreement and should not be allowed to manifest further.
“All NGOs are directed to submit work plans for the year 2021 to the Provincial Development Co-ordinator as well as information relating to workshops, the commissioning of projects, work being undertaken in Harare Metropolitan Province, monthly reports and any other pertinent information as regards their operations by 9 July 2021,” reads part of the statement.
Meanwhile Mr Muguti invited all the NGOs Country Directors to a courtesy call with the Provincial Development Co-ordinator’s office and the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, for formalities.
Most rogue NGOs operating in Zimbabwe including some Civil Society groups involve themselves in local politics, supporting the opposition political parties with a view to effect regime change in the country, hence their day to day activities should be closely monitored.
