ZANUP Pf’s newly elected District Co-ordinating committees (DCCs) countrywide have begun mobilising for the 2023 harmonised elections.

Several DCC meetings were held last week in Manicaland, Matabeleland South and Midlands, where DCC roles which include recruiting and mobilising membership and voter registration and resolving party problems peacefully were discussed.

Addressing members at Mutare Hall in Manicaland last week, Manicaland Provincial Chairlady Happiness Nyakuedzwa urged members to mobilise support for the ruling party from grassroot to national level ahead of the 2023 plebiscite. Nyakuedzwa encouraged the party members to unite and work towards the betterment of the party.

Members resolved to pursue pending 2020 projects which include bakeries, cobra making, face mask making and bee keeping among others.

In Chipinge, DCC Chairperson Themba Sithole called for unity among party members and urged them to shun factional differences highlighting that factional fights affected the party`s performance in Chipinge`s eight urban wards during the 2018 harmonised elections.

In Midlands, the 22 member DCC led by Cde Mackey Jaravaza was inaugurated on Saturday at an event which also saw the welcoming of former MDC-Alliance top official Lillian Timveous.

Zanu PF Midlands Provincial Chairperson Engineer Daniel Mckenzie Ncube challenged the executive to embark on mass mobilisation to strengthen the party.

‘’Today is a happy day for us as we gather here in Zvishavane to inaugurate the DCC members so that they hit the ground running. It`s also a special day as we welcome Cde Timveous to the party. We hope you use her experience and knowledge for the growth of the party,’’ he said.

Cde Ncube aged the DCC to put aside their differences so that they have programmes that increase membership.

DCC structures were disbanded in 2012 after the party felt that the structures were being used to propel divisions in the ruling party.

The structures were brought back into the fold following the Esigodini Conference in December 2018, and their duties include supervising and monitoring party projects and rejuvenating the party.
