The ruling Zanu PF party has sent a condolence message to the Mumbengegwi family following the death of Mrs Emily Mumbengegwi, wife to Politburo member and Zanu PF’s Secretary for External Relations Cde Simbarashe Mumbengegwi.

In a statement yesterday, Zanu PF National Spokesman Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo said the death of Mrs Mumbengegwi has created a deep void which is eternally irreplaceable.

“The revolutionary party Zanu PF, led by His Excellency the President and First Secretary Cde ED Mnangagwa, learnt with a deep sense of grief, shock and sadness, following the passing on of Mrs Emily Mumbengegwi, wife to the party’s Secretary for External Relations, Cde Simbarashe Mumbengegwi who is also a member of the Politburo.

“The revolutionary party wishes to express its deepest condolences to the Mumbengegwi and the Charasika families on this sad loss. The loss of a wife and mother deprives the family of a comforter and a pillar of strength. It creates a deep void which is eternally irreplaceable,” said Ambassador Moyo.

Cde Moyo described the late Mrs Mumbengegwi as the epitome of fortitude and oasis of humility.

“Mai Mumbengegwi was an epitome of fortitude, resilience and an oasis of humility as she ably supported her husband in service to nation. As we mourn her departure, we derive solace from her exemplary and selfless deeds which endeared her to the family and society,” said Ambassador Moyo.

Meanwhile, President Emmerson Mnangagwa will tomorrow cut his leave to preside over the joint burial of national heroes Cde Moton Malianga and Dr Ellen Gwaradzimba at the National Heroes’ Acre. Cde Gwaradzimba succumbed to Covid 19 last week while Cde Malianga has been unwell for some time.

The decision by President Mnangagwa to cut short his leave to bury his fellow comrades shows the importance he attaches to the two for the critical roles they played for the liberation and development of the country.
