Zim plunged into mourning following the death of Minister Moyo

The country has been plunged into mourning following the death of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Sibusiso Busi Moyo who succumbed to Covid 19 early today.

The death of Minister Moyo, who becomes the third Minister to die of the disease, was confirmed by President Emmerson Mnangagwa who described the late Minister Moyo as a devoted civil servant and a true hero.

“It is with a heavy heart that I announce Foreign Minister Dr SB Moyo has died. Zimbabwe has lost a devoted public servant and a true hero, and I have lost a friend. He fought his entire life so that Zimbabwe could be free. May he rest in peace,” said President Mnangagwa.

The Acting Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, George Charamba, said the nation will be kept apprised on further developments regarding the death of Minister Moyo.

 “His Excellency the President, Cde E.D Mnangagwa regrets to announce the passing on early this morning of Dr S.B Moyo, our Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. The late Minister succumbed to Covid 19 at a local hospital.

“The nation will be kept apprised of further developments regarding this untimely demise of the late Minister, himself a decorated soldier and freedom fighter,” said Charamba.

Minister Moyo becomes the third Minister to succumb to Covid 19 following the death of former Lands, Agriculture and Rural Resettlement, Retired Air Chief Marshall Perrence Shiri who died last year in July and Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Ellen Gwaradzimba who succumbed to Covid 19 last week.
