The Government is launching the Zimbabwe National Critical Skills Audit (ZNCSA) so that it will come up with an education system which is transparent and recognised the world over as well as aid in transforming the country’s economy, a senior Government official has said.
Speaking during the launch of ZNCSA at Harare International Conference Centre (HICC) today, Higher and Tertiary Education Minister, Professor Amon Murwira said economies were developed through knowledge.
Professor Murwira said, “Economies are transformed through knowledge. We want to create jobs that do not exist today. Growth is about creating new things and jobs.”
He added, “We want to build a brand new industry. We cannot stay in our comfort zone anymore, whereby we continue doing things which we already know, but by venturing into new frontiers.”
Professor Murwira commended President Emmerson Mnangagwa for adopting a new education vision.
“Thank you for setting the stage and the institutional framework for the future of this country your Excellency,” said Professor Murwira.
A Special Advisory South African firm that was present applauded Zimbabwe’s initiative and pledged that it is committed to working with Zimbabwe. The advisory company acknowledged that Zimbabwe is indeed open for business as it was now venturing into all spheres of the economy.
Minister Murwira’s speech resonates well with President Mnangagwa’s vision of delivering a Middle-Income economy by 2030. The vision 2030’s vision is to modernise and industrialise the country’s economy through the science and technology development.
