Movement for Democratic Change (MDC)-Alliance front man Nelson Chamisa’s voracious appetite to hog the lime light for the wrong reasons seems inexhaustible as last night he assembled a 60 man squad to storm and re-occupy MRT House/Harvest House.
The re-occupation of the Harvest House comes four months after the Morgan Richard Tsvangirai house was occupied by the rival MDC-T party led by Dr Thokozani Khupe, following a Supreme Court ruling which delegitimised Chamisa as the rightful heir to the party’s throne after the death of Morgan Tsvangirai.
The court said Khupe, who was elected the sole deputy at a previous congress held in 2014, would assume interim charge pending an extra ordinary congress.
Raymond Mwando, a political analyst who spoke to the Harare Post said Chamisa’s penchant for chaos exposes himself and the MDC as a lawless and violent party.
“If at all, there is still any right thinking Zimbabwean of the persuasion that MDC - Alliance front man Nelson Chamisa, can lead this great nation, the latest circus to control the Harvest house is there for all to witness Chamisa’s crass, tactless and gross ineptitude.
“Where does this lawlessness take him and his terror squad? It will just end in more arrests of the ignorant youths being used to further his political ambitions.”
This move comes is highly characteristic of Chamisa who usually resorts to violence to resolve any dispute within the party, with the help of rowdy party youths.
“Intimidation and violence is the only language that Chamisa understands. This was the very technique that he used to rise to power with the help of excitable student activists. I hope police come through to restore sanity,” said one livid MDC-T youth who was manning the now invaded MRT house.
