The ZANU PF Midlands Province Youth League yesterday joined in the nationwide condemnation of the MDC-Alliance planned plot to cause national chaos through demonstrations scheduled for end of this month.
Several, ZANU PF Provincial Youth League Executives have in the past week come out strongly against the planned protests.
In a strong worded statement, ZANU PF Midlands Province Youth League Secretary for Administration, Cde Justice Wadyajena said the planned protests were a betrayal of the democratic space opened by the New Dispensation under the leadership of ZANU PF First Secretary and President Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa.
“We condemn, in the strongest terms the MDC-Alliance plot to cause national chaos through planned violent nationwide demonstrations on the 31st of July, as part of a wider plan to overthrow the constitutionally elected Government of Zimbabwe and its leader Cde Mnangagwa.
“While all attempts have been made by Government to create the most free and broad political space since Zimbabwe’s independence, the MDC-Alliance has been in cahoots with a number of unsavoury Civil Society elements to undermine these efforts and go against the will of the Zimbabwean people by usurping power.
“The demonstrations planned for the 31st of July serve as a smoke screen for what we know to be a clear intention to overthrow the government of the day and is doubly irresponsible given the threat of a serious escalation in the spread of COVID-19,” Cde Wadyajena said.
MDC-T, ZAPU and Mthwakazi Republic Party are some of the political parties that have also distanced themselves from the planned protests.
Cde Wadyajena said the demonstrations were in clear violation of the newly found freedom, Zimbabweans were enjoying under the Second Republic.
“This is a clear violation of the newly found freedom Zimbabweans are enjoying under the New Dispensation. President Mnangagwa has shown his unquestionable dedication to further democratic political space in Zimbabwe evidenced through the creation of platform such as POLAD through which all other credible, genuine political parties have engaged the government and through which positive collective change can be made possible,” Cde Wadyajena.
Cde Wadyajena said while the ZANU PF Midlands Youth League stood firmly in support of the right to demonstrate peacefully as enshrined in the Constitution, it could not idly observe the fundamental rights being abused by the greedy and treasonous ambitions of the MDC-Alliance.
In that regard, Cde Wadyajena called for the arrest of MDC-A Spokesperson, Fadzai Mahere, on accusations of publicly inciting citizens to revolt against Government.
“We are extremely disturbed by the conduct of the MDC-A spokesperson Ms Fadzai Mahere who is on public record openly incting the people of Zimbabwe to oust ZANU PF on the 31st of July 2020.
“As a lawyer. She is well aware of the contents and spirit of our constitution but appears hellbent on driving mayhem and unlawful behaviour that sits in direct oppositon to the tenets of her profession. “We therefore call upon law enforcement agencies to heed the call of the youth and look directly into the behaviour and actions of such person and respond to the mischevious malcontents who continue to advocate for sanctions and policies that further criplle our nation,” Cde Wadyajena said.
Cde Wadyajena also urged Zimbabwean to use legal channels in their fight against corruption and not to be manipulated by western sponsored proponents of regime change who wanted to use the plague for their selfish ends.
“Corruption has become a serious plague in our country and we throw our weight behind all constructive and progressive efforts to fight it. Fighting corruption however, requires the vigilance of all citizens regardless of political affiliation.
