Zimbabwe this year will be hosting the 2020 to 2030 Sixth Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (ARFSD) from 24 to 27 February 2019, a Cabinet Minister has said.

Acting Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Sekai Nzenza, yesterday said the African Regional Forum would focus on delivering a transformed and prosperous Africa through the 2030 Agenda and Agenda 2063. ARFSD allows member States to share experiences and to agree on collective solutions that attain the goals of the 2030 Agenda, she said.

“The Sixth Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development will be running from the 24th to the 27th February 2020 in Victoria Falls. The theme for this sustainable development conference is going to be ‘2020 to 2030 a decade to a transformed and prosperous Africa through the 2030 and agenda 2063.’

“What does this mean, the Africa regional forum on sustainable development is an inter Governmental and multi-stakeholder platform convened annually by the Economic Commission for Africa in collaboration with the African Union Commission, also in collaboration with the African Development Bank and the United Nations System to review progress, share experiences and lessons learnt in the implementation of Agenda 2030 of the SDG goals,” she said.

The Harare Post has learnt that the sixth Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development seeks to end all forms of poverty by ensuring social protection; enhancing access to basic services; and building resilience against the impacts of natural disasters which can cause severe damage to people's resources and livelihoods in Africa.
