President Emmerson Mnangagwa has today led a national clean-up campaign in Kuwadzana 2 in Harare.

Addressing the people at the event, President Mnangagwa reiterated that Zimbabwe will keep using its own currency as the use of other foreign currencies will not make the country a sovereign state.

The residents of Kuwadzana took the opportunity to voice concern on the refusal of coins by service providers and retail shops. President Mnangagwa answered that coins are a legal tender and retailers must accept the coins.

Tweeting on his twitter handle, President Mnangagwa posted that people must take action in 2020 and work hard for a cleaner environment.

“As we enter a new year, we continue with our ‘National Clean Up Campaign’, this time in Kuwadzana. 2020 must be a year of taking action and working hard for a cleaner, better and brighter future for all. I wish you all a blessed weekend,” tweeted the President.

The clean-up exercise was successfully carried out throughout the country with various communities going out to clean their environments. First Lady, Auxilia Mnangagwa led the activities at Henderson Research Station in Mashonaland Central, the office of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga was in Ruwa whilst Vice President Kembo Mohadi was at Rhodesville shopping centre in Harare.
