South African opposition leader, Julius Malema took a dig at Saviour Kasukuwere’s presidential bid after he (Kasukuwere) has ditched his other self-exiled friends, the Harare Post can reveal.
Addressing delegates during their recently held elective congress, Economic Freedom Fighter (EFF) leader insinuated that Kasukuwere was displaying egoism.
“People are promoting individual campaigns and making t-shirts and all types of things. We will not support individuals. We will support the cause. We are not going to support any individual who thinks that he is bigger than the cause,” bellowed Malema.
“But if there is going to be competition of egos and people declaring themselves Presidents even before you form organisations, then we will see you in the political dustbins,” added Malema.
Kasukuwere’s presidential bid is being fronted by an alleged group of individuals under the moniker #TysonWabantu which started in the past few weeks campaigning in Bulawayo.
In one of the #TysonWabantu Harare Chapter (WhatsApp group), members castigated Malema labelling him a sell out.
“Malema haana kusiyana naMliswa. I was shocked by his address targeting our leader Kasukuwere. I thought he was in our corner but it seems he is redressing into Patrick Zhuwawo and Professor Jonathan Moyo’s corner,” said one of the WhatsApp group member.
Another member described Malema as a “mad dog”.
Kasukuwere’s G40 partners in self-exile distanced themselves from the #TysonWabantu campaign with Walter Mzembi micro-blogging that, “I applaud every effort to democratise our country and wish @Hon_Kasukuwere well in his efforts, for the record, I am not his Deputy in the #tysonwabantu nor in any structure. I will pronounce myself in due course on Zim politics and my vision going forward.”
Professor Jonathan Moyo also distanced himself from the Kasukuwere presidential bid.
