France commends Zim on fight against HIV, TB and Malaria

The French President has commended Zimbabwe for its fight against HIV, TB and Malaria today at the 6th Replenishment Conference of the Global Fund being held in France, aimed at raising $12 billion to fight HIV, TB and Malaria.

Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Professor Mthuli Ncube said the French President, Emmanuel Macron during his address acknowledged that Zimbabwe has done well on the use of Global Fund resources to fight HIV, TB and Malaria.

“President Macron mentioned Zimbabwe as a country that has done well in the area of HIV, TB and Malaria control, and in the use of Global Fund resources.

“The French President rallied everyone to support the replenishment. The Global Fund has saved lives in Zimbabwe,” said the Minister.

In his address, President Mnangagwa announced Zimbabwe’s financial pledge to the Global Fund.

“His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa acknowledged the critical role of the Global Fund in Zimbabwe’s flight against HIV, TB and Malaria. He pledged US$1 million towards the Global Fund,” said the Minister.

The Harare Post has learnt that President Mnangagwa went to attend the Global Fund event after an invitation was extended to him by France. France continues to maintain positive relations with African countries including Zimbabwe. The President is opening up a platform for future engagements which should promote economic benefits for the nation.
