Thousands of Zanu PF supporters from the country’s five provinces gathered today at Rufaro Stadium where they bid fare well to the former President and Zanu PF founding father, Robert Mugabe who died on, 6 September 2019 in Singapore.
Speaking to Harare Post, Mrs Revai Mashayamombe from Mufakose applauded Government for arranging such a program saying it has given them an opportunity to mourn the National Hero, former President Mugabe.
Mrs Mashayamombe said, “We are saddened by the death of former President Mugabe. We have come here to pay our last tribute to the gallant son and former freedom fighter. We have lost a unifier, a pan-Africanist, a soldier who fought a good fight to liberate Zimbabwe.”
Meanwhile, President Emmerson Mnangagwa addressed mourners at former President Mugabe’s residence in Borrowdale. The President said people should not listen to fake news from social media about the burial arrangements which claimed that over 40 Heads of States are coming for the burial. Instead, people should await for official information from the Government.
Additionally, the President told the former First Lady Grace Mugabe that she has the full backing of Government on whatever the family decides.
The burial of the former President Mugabe will be announced in due course after consultations with the family members are made.
