Zanu-PF warns MDC demonstrators

By Christopher Makaza

Zanu-PF has once again warned the opposition MDC for their intention to roll out a series of demonstrations in small towns and growth points which are the ruling party`s strong holds, in their quest to overthrow President Emmerson Mnangagwa`s legitimate government.

In a press statement released yesterday, the ruling party strongly warned that it stands ready to once again defend the values and principles of the liberation struggle which are embodied in the wishes and aspirations of Zimbabwean people.

Zanu PF also believes that the rural demonstrations are aimed at destabilising the 2019/2020 farming season for which farmers are currently busy preparing for.

“The intended rolling out of these demonstrations to the countryside comes at a time when preparations for the 2019/2020 summer cropping season are now in full swing. The demonstrations are therefore timed to derail determined and spirited efforts by Government to resuscitate agricultural production through various programmes.

“However, the revolutionary Zanu PF party would like to send a clear and unambiguous message to the MDC-Alliance and its handlers that it stands ready once again to defend the values and principles of the liberation struggle which are embodied in the wishes and aspirations of Zimbabwean people,” reads part of the statement.

The ruling party warned rogue foreign missions and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) against dabbling in the internal political processes of Zimbabwe but confine themselves to their terms of references which are clearly spelt out in international protocols.

Zanu PF commended the security apparatus for their unwavering dedication to ensuring that peace and tranquillity prevail in the country.

The MDC has vowed to take the route of violent demonstrations to achieve their regime change agenda or inclusive government agenda. MDC leader, Nelson Chamisa refused to join other political parties in the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) as usual, questioning the legitimacy of President Mnangagwa and bringing forward unrealistic and unnecessary demands.

Following the flopping of urban demonstrations countrywide, MDC has resolved to go rural, where the intended demonstrations are likely to flop considering that the areas are Zanu PF dominated.

The MDC’s new round of demonstrations was slated for today. However, a survey conducted by this publication in various venues lined-up for the demonstrations has revealed that it was business as usual. Several interviews with the residents indicated that there was little appetite for the protests whose rationale was beyond their comprehension. Some even professed ignorance of the demonstrations.
