Reports of Zanu PF members being attacked by suspected MDC members continue to hog the limelight, Harare Post has learnt.
This follows a resolution made by the MDC youth last month in Bulawayo where they schemed to attack known Zanu PF supporters and business belonging to prominent Zanu PF members and sympathisers.
The latest victim of the plot is Zanu PF Mawire cell Chairperson, Taurai Kugara whose hut was burnt on Friday, resulting in property worth thousands of dollars destroyed.
Kugara is also a village head of Mawire village, ward 31 of Buhera North. According to contacts, Kugara have been accused by MDC members of partisan distribution of food aid. The local MDC members had been, on several occasions, threatened him with unspecified actions over his involvement in Zanu PF politics.
According to contacts, the two daughters of Kugara were sleeping when the hut was burnt but fortunately they managed to escape unhurt.
However, all the items in the house was burnt including 50 bags of maize, maize seed and three bags of fertilisers. The matter was reported to ZRP Murambinda.
Meanwhile, Zanu PF Central Committee member, Moses Gutu and his family were assaulted by six suspected MDC members at his farm in ward 25 Juliusdale, Nyanga South.
Gutu was in the company of his two sons, Paul and Kudakwashe when they noticed six men outside his house late on the day in question. Upon engaging them, he noticed that they were carrying an axe, beer bottle with suspected petrol and stones. Gutu subsequently ran to his neighbour`s house seeking refuge.
The suspected MDC assailants assaulted Gutu`s wife Primrose and Kudakwashe who sustained ruptures. The two were attended at Nyanga Rural District Hospital. The matter was reported to Nyanga Police Station which is currently carrying out investigations.
One Zanu PF local who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of victimisation by the MDC, revealed that the MDC members in their last meeting late in July, resolved to harass and threaten all Zanu PF supporters in the area. He added that their agenda is to frustrate all Zanu PF members who are very active in supporting the policies of President Emmerson Mnangagwa which have proved to be fruitful.
