Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Monica Mutsvangwa has urged Zimbabwe and China to find common ground and share information.

She said this whilst addressing delegates at the familiarisation tour of the Chinese business, Sunny Yi Feng Tiles Company in Norton where she was accompanied by Minister of Justice legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Ziyambi Ziyambi and Minister of Industry and Commerce Mangaliso Ndhlovu.

Minister Mutsvangwa said, “In situations where there are cultural differences and differences in custom, let us find common ground and share information in the spirit of brotherhood between our nations. It is very important to take time to listen and understand other people’s customs, that way we can live in harmony together.”

Minister Mutsvangwa highlighted that Zimbabwe is known for its open arms and urged people to shun media that misrepresent Zimbabwe. She further said that Zimbabwe was friends with China which is a powerful nation and an envy of many.

“Zimbabweans are known for their hospitality and warmth. Recent statements reported in media emanating from different stakeholders do not represent the Zimbabwe ethos and values of tolerance and acceptance of other cultures. Zimbabwe is happy to have China as an ally. China is a powerful global player which even other powerful nations are keen to befriend.

“Government urges all Zimbabweans to show their tolerance their hospitality, their love and their friendliness towards investments that influence our people, investments that support our economy, investments that support the core which has been called by his excellency of the second Republic of Zimbabwe to say Zimbabwe is open for business and what we need in this country is this kind of investment which will support our economy and bring development to our country,” she said.

Sunny Yi Feng employs 1193 locals, 30% of whom are female. It uses raw materials from Chakari, Chinhoyi, Chegutu and Selous and produces 30 000 to 35 000 square metres of tiles per day exported to Mozambique, Zambia and South Africa.
