Chamisa torches a twitter storm

MDC leader, Nelson Chamisa has been condemned for attempting to politically profit from the late music icon, Dr Oliver Mtukudzi’s funeral.

Chamisa is accused of acting in a manner which violates African tradition and Ubuntu as he made attempts to hijack the funeral into a political rally and also turning it into a photo shoot session.

The criticism came in the wake of a message circulating on social media which mobilised MDC Alliance Norton assembly to come in their numbers to support Chamisa as he paid his condolences to the Mtukudzi family.

This did not go well with many who were genuinely mourning the late music icon who was declared a national hero yesterday by President Emmerson Mnangagwa after consultations with Zanu PF’s highest decision making body, Politburo.

This same event is just like what he did during the burial of MDC founding leader, Morgan Tsvangirai.

Meanwhile, Chamisa has earned himself moniker #FuneralPresident on social media.

A Facebook character Operation Restore Legacy said, “Mr Chamisa is now famed for never missing a chance to show off as he now mistakes every gathering for a rally.”  The character went on to attack Chamisa’s behaviour as unAfrican as he should show his human side in such times of bereavement.

Chamisa’s spokesperson, Nkululeko Sibanda torched the storm when he wrote on his time line on twitter that, The people’s President Nelson Chamisa @nelsonchamisa has just joined the family of the People’s International Hero #Mtukudzi. #RIPOliverMtukudzi #RIPTuku #TukuPeoplesLegend. Respectful and quick leadership by President @nelsonchamisa”

One twitter character, @TafadzwaMasang3 wrote, “Why are you this person nhai Nkulu? Nepasingade politics unongoita campaign. Nyara mhani nxa you are a disappointment”

Another character, @PTChimusoro wrote also on his time line,Politics has gone into our heads that we can’t let moments pass without involving it. A time of mourning is just a time to stand with those who are aggrieved; it should be about the one who had left and consolation of the one who remains. Let’s value humanity over anything else.”
