President Emmerson Mnangagwa officiated over the launch of the Chitepo School of Ideology Basic Orientation Course at the ZANU PF Headquarters today.

President Mnangagwa said that the Basic Orientation Course would assist Members of Parliament and Provincial Councillors to perform their tasks in a better way.

“This course, which is one of many that will be rolled out by the School of Ideology, is aimed at helping and preparing you to better undertake the new roles you have assumed in the party,” he said.

President Mnangagwa highlighted on the importance of leaders taking on these courses offered by the College.

“I exalt all leaders of the party to develop an inquisitive and analytical mind-set which clearly understands the situations and problems arising in our fast developing country. This is why we have activated the Chitepo Ideological College. It is a fountain of wisdom,” he said.

He encouraged leadership to move with the times.

“We cannot afford to cling on to old patterns of leadership, old practices and work ethics. We should mobilise, adapt to new trends and processes systematically, holistically and comprehensively. This process of adjustments is best achieved through courses from Chitepo College.

“This Basic orientation Course will result in a mind-set of behavioural shift among all of us. We must worry about the affairs of the people and then lastly enjoy ourselves,” he said.

President Mnagagwa appealed for the leadership to work to remain humble and commended the Chitepo School of Ideology for doing a good job.

“I appeal to you to work towards improving the quality of life of the people, never to be corrupted, but remain humble as a servant leadership.

“Allow me once again to commend the Hebert Chitepo School of Ideology for facilitating this basic orientation course for you the newly elected Members of Parliament and Provincial Councillors,” he said.
