African Development Bank has donated US$1.4million to Zimbabwe in support of the implementation of the innovative solutions to support livelihood of vulnerable communities projects (ISV-COM).
Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Honourable Professor Mthuli Ncube announced how the programme goes hand in hand with the Government’s priorities of economic development.
“This new programme is in sync with the national priorities of economic development, job creation and reducing poverty. In this regard, the project will proffer economic livelihood solutions, promote innovative energy and water solutions as well as offer training and capacity building programmes.
“The project will significantly contribute to Government’s vision of attaining a Middle Income Class Economy by 2030,” he said.
Minister Ncube highlighted that AfDB is not the only contributor.
“AfDB is not the only contributor as there is also Total South Africa and this speaks to the Public Private Partnership (PPP) spirit which the new Government is trying to promote. The Government has also contributed, so all in all we have a total of about $1.9million,” he said
AfDB Country Manager, Mr Damoni Kitabire highlighted how Zimbabwe and AfDB are in good relations.
“Zimbabwe is one of the founding members of AfBD, therefore we treasure this relationship. AfDB’s support focuses on the people of Zimbabwe for better living standards. This fund is in the same spirit supporting the people,” he said
