The Professional Women, Women Executives and Business Women’s Forum (PROWEB) is set to launch its Bulawayo chapter today, 18 September 2019 at M & M Joyous Events in Bulawayo CBD.
The event which will be presided by the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs for Masvingo, Judith Ncube will host business minded women and entrepreneurs from in and around Bulawayo.
Speaking to this publication, PROWEB Executive Director, Moira Ngaru revealed that the forum was initiated in 2005 with the vision of contributing towards economic empowerment for women.
“The initiative was established to enable professional executives and business women to contribute to national agenda through networking, dialogue and lobbying.
“It is a platform for women to grow economically and socially while making a difference in society, particularly in wealth.” She said.
Ngaru also revealed that PROWEB members from Bulawayo advocated for the launch of the Bulawayo chapter so as to provide them a platform to grow personally, professionally, and business wise.
She added, “Since inception, PROWEB has recorded notable successes which include business skills training programmes which trained over 90 women entrepreneurs drawn from Bulawayo to run and manage their businesses in a sustainable manner.”
The launch of the PROWEB Bulawayo chapter is set to boost the training of many more businesswomen in the province on how to be self-sufficient.
On top of providing skills training workshops and programmes, PROWEB also has the business mentorship programmes in which it pairs potential women entrepreneurs with successful female businesswomen to guide them through.
The work by PROWEB is commendable as it aims at improving not only the lives of women but the also the lives of their families, in line with His Excellency, President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Government’s vision of a middle class economy by the year 2030.
