Chamisa further splits CCC over official parliament opening

One disgruntled CCC legislator, who spoke to this publication on condition of anonymity, revealed that the CCC interim National Organising Secretary, Amos Chibaya gave a directive to all the newly appointed CCC legislators instructing them to boycott the official opening of the 10th Parliament and SONA.

“When our interim National Organising Secretary, Amos Chibaya, directed us to boycott the first session of the 10th Parliament and the State of the Nation Address, he made it unequivocally clear that anyone who defied the directive will be recalled by the party.  We were literally arm twisted to submission.”

“Some of our Members of Parliament felt they were being short-changed by the party (CCC) and threatened to attend,” revealed the CCC legislator.

The same legislator exposed the selfishness that Chamisa exhibits unapologetically, describing the directive as inconsiderate and selfish.

“Considering that we self-financed from the nomination fees to the campaign funds in our different constituencies, it is rather unfair for Chamisa to act self-righteous by demanding that we honour his directives, yet when we indicated the heaviness of the load posed by self-financing for campaigns, he turned a blind eye,” said the legislator.

Furthermore, the CCC legislator revealed that some legislators had vowed to risk all by attending the event, so that they don’t miss an opportunity to benefit from their sweat.

“Currently as a party we are divided, the legislators are irked by the threat from the leadership against attending the SONA and opening of the 10th Parliament, they are claiming that it might affect their chances of being allotted their vehicles timeously,” he said.

In December 2022, CCC legislators defied Chamisa’s directive not to receive housing loans extended to them by Government and they accused their leader of not being sensitive to their welfare.

Meanwhile, Parliament had directed that all legislators attend the official opening so as to finalise other administrative issues regarding their salaries, allowances, diplomatic passports and fuel coupons.
