G40 ups mobilisation campaign

Investigations by the Harare Post have unearthed information that the chief proponent of the sudden social media push of Kasukuwere is another self-exiled former Cabinet Minister, Professor Jonathan Moyo.

According to a source privy to the goings on, Prof Moyo nominated Kasukuwere as the interim leader and initiated the social media campaign to test his acceptability by the electorate.

The source also added that the G40 elements have already initiated mobilisation activities which are being led on the ground by former ZANU PF members, Jim Kunaka and Justin Chisaru.

“The G40 kingpins which include Prof Moyo, Kasukuwere and Patrick Zhuwao have already initiated mobilisation activities and have delegated to Kunaka and Chisaru to oversee the activities on the ground.

“The duo was in South Africa recently to brief the leadership about the developments with reports that they have managed to set up constituency coordinators in Harare.

“The duo also revealed their modus operandi in which they are targeting National Youth Service (NYS) graduates; National People’s Party (NPP) members and remnants of the G40 elements still in ZANU PF which President Mnangagwa had tried to rehabilitate,” the source revealed.

The source also identified former First Lady, Grace Mugabe as the chief sponsor with plans at an advanced stage of launching a fully-fledged political party ahead of the 2023 elections.

“Grace Mugabe is the main sponsor of the initiative with the interim leadership also planning on rewarding her with a very influential position once the party is launched,” he said.

The revelations explain recent reports that Mugabe set thugs on land claimants, as she is known to pre-empt activities.

The social media campaign has seen the G40 elements flooding Twitter; Facebook and Instangram with #TysonWabantu messages and provincial WhatsApp groups being formed.

However, the source has revealed that it is not all rosy within the group as the backlash from social media has not been encouraging.

“Prof Moyo is revisiting his nomination of Kasukuwere as leader because of the negative feedback from social media. The netizens accuse Kasukuwere of being corrupt and having too many skeletons in his closet, making him unfit to be President.

“Plans are underway to find another candidate with considerations being made to appoint Grace Mugabe to take over,” the source added.

The source went on to reveal that the G40 elements are realistic in their expectation and know they will not win the elections, their aim is to embarrass ZANU PF and then join forces with the MDC at the 2023 harmonised elections.

“Prof Moyo and company know they will not win the election, so they hope the launch of the party will embarrass ZANU PF and weaken it before they join forces with the MDC as the 2023 elections approach,” he concluded.
