The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) has urged travellers intending to temporarily import vehicles into the country to use its electronic Temporary Import Permit (TIP) portal for a smoother and quicker experience at border posts.

In a statement issued yesterday, ZIMRA encouraged travellers to fill in the TIP online for convenience and quick passage.

"For convenience and quick passage into Zim, fill in the TIP online, from anywhere in the world, prior to your arrival at the border post. The online platform allows users to submit their Temporary Import Permit (TIP) applications well in advance, significantly cutting down waiting times at ports of entry," said ZIMRA.

Travellers can access the e-TIP portal by visiting https://ecustoms.zimra.co.zw/etip/ or by downloading the e-TIP app from the Google Play Store.

"First-time users must sign up by clicking ‘SIGNUP’ on the portal’s home page and entering their personal details in the User Registration Form. Click on ‘SIGNUP’ if it’s your first time; otherwise, proceed to log in with your passport number and password. After registering, users must activate their account via a confirmation email," the statement explains.

Once logged in, users can initiate a new TIP application by entering the required driver, vehicle, trailer (if applicable), and owner details.

“Tick the driver’s declaration checkbox and you will receive, via email, the reference number,” ZIMRA added.

The authority is confident that the e-TIP system will enhance efficiency at border points and improve the overall travel experience for visitors temporarily bringing vehicles into Zimbabwe.
