Cabinet has approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Republic of Zimbabwe and the Republic of Mozambique. The MoU focuses on cooperation in the field of energy for the enhancement of energy supply.
During a recent post- cabinet press briefing the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Jenfan Muswere said that the agreement encompasses various facets of the energy sector, ensuring mutual benefits for both nations.
“The upgraded engagement between Zimbabwe and Mozambique is expected to significantly enhance investment in the energy sector. This partnership will not only improve energy supply but also foster the exchange of expertise, training, and technical support between our two countries,” he said
The MoU is anticipated to pave the way for substantial developments in energy infrastructure and services.
“Both countries stand to gain from increased trade in petroleum products and natural gas, which are crucial for their respective energy needs. The focus on renewable energy promotion aligns with global trends towards sustainable energy solutions, further highlighting the forward-thinking approach of this bilateral agreement,” Minister Muswere said
Minister Muswere emphasized the strategic importance of this collaboration, noting that it will strengthen Zimbabwe’s energy security
“Investment in the energy sector is crucial for Zimbabwe, particularly in light of the ongoing challenges related to energy shortages. The collaboration with Mozambique is a strategic move to tap into the region’s energy resources and expertise,” Minister Muswere added
The MoU also includes provisions for the exchange of technical knowledge and skills, which will be instrumental in building local capacity and advancing technological innovations in the energy sector.
“Training programs and technical support initiatives will ensure that both countries benefit from the latest advancements in energy technology and practices,” he said
Meanwhile, Cabinet also announced the approval of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Republic of Zimbabwe and Malaysia. This MoU seeks to develop cooperation in media and broadcasting, specifically in terms of radio and television programmes between the two countries.
