The Citizens Coalition for Change-Chamisa (CCC-C) has been caught contravening the country’s import regulations by means of a contraband that came through an undesignated entry point in the Madabe area of Mangwe District, Matabeleland South Province.
Speaking to this publication, members of the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) disclosed what transpired leading to the arrest and subsequent discovery of the illegal imports.
“A suspicious truck attempted to evade a ZRP checkpoint, and raised suspicion, prompting a routine inspection. Afterward, ZIMRA officials were alerted to the discovery of contraband, consisting of 35 boxes of regalia.
Further investigation revealed that the intercepted regalia bore distinct markings and insignia associated with the CCC-C, intensifying suspicions of the party's involvement in the smuggling operation. The contraband is believed to have been destined for distribution in Plumtree ahead of the Blue Movement launch.
With the imminent launch of the Blue Movement, these allegations pose a significant threat to the CCC-C's reputation and credibility among voters.
Moreover, the CCC-C representatives have vehemently denied any wrongdoing, asserting their lack of involvement with the intercepted regalia.
Meanwhile, the Government has pledged to crack down on smuggling activities, particularly at all the entry/exit points across the country, to combat revenue losses from illicit trade.
