Zanu Pf legislator for Mt. Darwin South, Kudakwashe Mupamhanga, has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that his constituents have access to clean, adequate, and safe water.
Speaking to this publication on 21 November 2024, Mupamhanga highlighted that water is a basic necessity and pledged to do everything possible to address water challenges in the area.
“The provision of clean water is not a privilege; it is a right that every person deserves. I am committed to working tirelessly to ensure that our communities have reliable access to safe and adequate water,” said Mupamhanga.
The legislator credited the Government's Drought Mitigation Strategy, implemented in response to the El Niño-induced drought, for significantly alleviating water scarcity in the constituency.
He revealed that the programme has already yielded tangible results, including the drilling and casing of 23 boreholes and the conversion of 10 high-yield bush pumps into solar-powered boreholes equipped with water troughs, water points, and drip-irrigated gardens.
“These achievements would not have been possible without the Government’s focused intervention. The Drought Mitigation Strategy has provided a lifeline for our communities, and we are grateful for this meaningful impact on our livelihoods,” he said.
Mupamhanga expressed heartfelt gratitude to President Mnangagwa for also prioritizing Mt. Darwin District in the drought mitigation programme.
He applauded the swift implementation of the measures, which have brought the much-needed relief to the region.
“I extend my deepest thanks to His Excellency, President Mnangagwa, for ensuring that Mt. Darwin District was included in this critical programme. His leadership has brought solutions to our communities during challenging times,” Mupamhanga said.
The MP also commended the collective efforts of the Mt. Darwin South community for their support in the programme's implementation.
"The people of Mt. Darwin South have shown remarkable unity and resilience. Through the mantra Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo (A country is built by its citizens), they provided supplementary manpower, accommodation, and food for technicians working on the project. This collaboration has been inspiring,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mupamhanga has embarked on a series of thank-you meetings across the constituency to express his appreciation to voters for supporting Zanu Pf in last year’s elections.
