Opposition leaders in Zimbabwe have urged citizens to prioritize the nation in their daily activities, emphasizing the need for unity, peace, harmony, and development.

Speaking to this publication, the president of the Labour, Economists, and African Democrats (LEAD), Linda Masarira, said that it was the duty of every Zimbabwean to contribute to national development.

“Let us dedicate this year to our country by working for the growth and development of our nation, performing our duties, and understanding our responsibilities. We should never surrender to circumstances that push us into corrupt and unethical conduct," said Masarira.

Masarira said that 2024 was promising to be filled with opportunities and growth.

The LEAD president called upon Zimbabweans to deddicate the year to the growth and development of the nation and to maintain peace and political tolerance.

"The new year is not just a change of calendar. It is also a reminder to set new goals and to work toward them. Together, we can work for the attainment of harmony and peace, success and prosperity, and the growth and development of our country.”

Masarira further stressed the need for Zimbabweans to fully commit to uplifting their country by providing services and duties to turn around the fortunes of the country.

She added that 2024 was a year to thank the country’s leadership for ensuring that peace and harmony prevailed in the country.

"New Year is a reminder to remember the promises made but not fulfilled. It is a reminder to thank our country for all the comforts and harmony we enjoy. It is a reminder to express our gratitude to God for an extended lease of life," said Masarira.
