The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Secretary General, Sengezo Tshabangu, has taken a strong stand against the unruly behaviour exhibited by some of that party's legislators in Parliament.
Tshabangu has reportedly condemned disruptions to legislative processes by CCC legislators and hinted at impending actions to ensure alignment with democratic principles.
According to an inside source, Tshabangu expressed his disapproval of the disruptive behaviour, stating, "The behaviour of CCC legislators to disrupt Parliament business was uncalled for. We will be engaging Parliament, and we know what’s lacking. There are a few individuals that need to be put in line, as they believe Parliament is a fighting space where they throw stones. Parliament is a policy institution where they should fight with ideas; we expect Parliament to rise above party politics. This country can be built by following the rules and guidelines that govern Parliament."
The source added that Tshabangu did not mince words in addressing the issue, indicating that further recalls of legislators from Parliament might be on the horizon.
The same source said that Tshabangu was considering the possibility of additional recalls of CCC legislators.
The aim is to cultivate a parliamentary contingent composed solely of disciplined representatives, emphasising that party's commitment to upholding decorum and responsible conduct within the legislative arena.
According to the source, Tshabangu was on record stating that CCC legislators, being party deployments, were expected to behave responsibly in Parliament and contribute to debates that encourage national development and unity.
"The SG (Tshabangu) always says that CCC legislators are supposed to be the embodiment of our party's values and principles. Their conduct should reflect the ideals we stand for, promoting constructive engagement rather than disruptive tactics," emphasised the source.
The CCC party finds itself grappling with internal divisions, leading to several recalls of legislators and councillors only a few months after the August 23 general elections.
These internal challenges have heightened concerns about that party's cohesion and ability to effectively contribute to the political landscape.
Meanwhile, as the CCC navigates these turbulent waters, Tshabangu's stern stance against disruptive behaviour within its ranks signals a commitment to upholding democratic values and parliamentary decorum.
The CCC's leadership, led by Tshabangu, appears determined to address internal issues swiftly and ensure that its representatives contribute meaningfully to the nation's development through constructive and lawful parliamentary engagement.
