Chamisa regrets Mahere relegation

In a shocking turn of events, the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader, Nelson Chamisa is now regretting his decision to appoint Promise Mkwananzi as the new spokesperson saying the latter has turned out to be a vice between him and his western allies.

A source who spoke to this publication revealed that Mkwananzi had a strained relationship with that party’s western handlers following his misappropriation of the ‘#Tajamuka’ campaign funds, a project which was sponsored by the same handlers.

“Chamisa is under pressure from his western handlers who are threatening to withdraw their support if he does not dismiss Mkwananzi as his party Spokesperson.

“Mkwananzi is accused of corruptly misappropriating funds meant for #Tajamuka campaign and converted them to personal use.  So Chamisa is now between a rock and a hard surface, as he had already fired Advocate Fadzai Mahere after she had indicated that Chamisa’s strategic ambiguity had cost that party in the recent election,” said the source.

It would appear that Chamisa is now between a rock and a hard surface. On one side, his handlers are threatening to withdraw funding while on the other side his party lieutenants are threatening rebellion against his directives.

“These are challenging times for Chamisa as he is torn between appeasing his handlers and maintaining authority within his party structures.  He is facing resistance from his party leaders who are telling him that his dictatorial selection of candidates is what led to the dismal loss of CCC to Zanu PF.  His appointment of Mkwananzi which was meant to be a show of power and force is being challenged by the western handlers who want it reversed or else,” said the source.

Meanwhile, most of  CCC members who won the election for the House of Assembly after they had self-financed  their campaigns such as Gift Ostalos Siziba and Charlton Hwende among others are defying Chamisa’s directive to boycott Parliamentary swearing in.  This has led Chamisa to wield his axe to chop out some heads from his party. Names of possible culprits include Siziba, Hwende and Mahere.
