CCC turns to social soccer events for mobilisation

Following the failure of Citizens Coalition for Change’s (CCC), Mugwazo and Mango mobilisation strategies, that party has adopted the social soccer events as a new voter mobilisation strategy ahead of the 2023 elections.

An impeccable source who spoke to this publication said that all CCC’s mobilisation strategies had failed to yield positive results as they were being shunned by the majority of people.

“The previous CCC voter mobilisation programmes failed to yield positive results. We had hoped that by now, we would have penetrated most of the country’s rural and urban areas. However, we failed to attract reasonable crowds at our meetings as people mostly in rural areas are attached to ZANU PF,” admitted the source.

Additionally, the same source said that Nelson Chamisa was now in utter distress with the encroaching elections and was now liaising with that party’s national organising secretary, Amos Chibaya to mobilise voters through social soccer events.

“Chibaya has been tasked by Chamisa to liaise with street and village champions to organise these social soccer events. CCC members are expected to attend these soccer events but should not be wearing party regalia so that they don’t attract any attention from state security agents. During these social soccer events, the street champions would be interacting with people campaigning for CCC,” said the source.

The same source added that some CCC senior members had no confidence in Chibaya’s leadership of this new mobilisation programme, as he has failed to make Mugwazo programme a success.

According to the source, Chibaya is clueless as far as voter mobilisation is concerned and predicted that CCC would perform badly in this year’s polls unless Chibaya is replaced by a more vibrant person.

Meanwhile, another source said CCC mobilisation exercises were bound to fail as most CCC leaders were sabotaging the events because of Chamisa’s autocratic behaviour.
