Russia strengthens tires with Zimbabwe

The visiting Russian delegation is on a mission to strengthen trade rapports with Harare, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Affairs, Ambassador James Manzou revealed.

Ambassador Manzou indicated that the delegation was from the Sverdlovsk region of the Russian Federation, adding that the visit was in line with the 4th Zimbabwe-Russia Inter-Government Commission.

“In this regard, I wish to commend efforts by the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Harare towards strengthening Trade and Economic Cooperation relations between the two countries.

“The visit by the delegation from the Sverdlovsk Region comes on the backdrop of the recent visit by the delegation from the National Association “Club of Successful Women” which was hosted by First Lady of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Her Excellency Dr. Auxilia Mnangagwa,” said Ambassador Manzou.

Ambassador Manzou applauded the political and economic relations between Zimbabwe and Russia saying the country’s rapport extended to international issues.

“The Republic of Zimbabwe and the Russian Federation enjoy political and economic relations and the two countries support each other at international forum” said Ambassador Manzou.

On a Government-to-Government level, several initiatives have been launched to enhance Trade and Economic Cooperation between the two countries. These include the signing of the Bilateral Trade Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (BIPPA) in October 2012 and the convening of the Fourth Zimbabwe-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission in Harare in 2022.

Since 2016, Zimbabwe has been participating in one of the Sverdlovsk Region`s annual economic events, such as the Russian Industrial International Trade Fair (Innoprom).
