A record high of new voters has been recorded in Mashonaland West province where at least 727 000 people registered as voters.

Addressing the Politburo meeting yesterday, ZANU PF National Spokesperson, Christopher Mutsvangwa made the revelations indicating that Mashonaland West has the highest number of new voters before encouraging the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) to make sure everyone who wants to register is afforded the chance to do so.

"Mashonaland West has created a new bulge of new voters, so we are appealing to ZEC for increased mobile voter registration centers, so that people can exercise their right to vote. This is a very good thing, I am so enthused by the response of the people of Mashonaland West," said Mutsvangwa.

 Mutsvangwa went on to emphasise that urban voters are now seeing the good works being done by the Second Republic under the leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, reassuring that voters will respond by voting for President Mnangagwa in the upcoming elections.

"Urban people are seeing what is being done by President Mnangagwa and voters are beginning to respond to his clarion call that people should register to vote. Mashonaland West is bringing in a number of things and we are happy.

“We are verifying cells as we want to see the number of registered voters that will vote for ZANU-PF. It is clear that the message of development has been received in urban areas and there is a sense of hope," said Chris Mutsvangwa.

Meanwhile, Politburo agreed that Sydney Sekeramayi will seat in as the link between the Council of Elders and the Politiburo. Obert Mpofu will be the Secretary General and Patrick Chinamasa will be the Treasurer General.
