Netizens have slated critics of President Emmerson Mnangagwa for trying to cause divisions within the presidium of the revolutionary Party by calling for President Mnangagwa to pave way for Vice President Constantinto Chiwenga to contest the 2023 Harmonised General Elections.
Political analysts have rubbished the call saying it is a desperate attempt by ousted former ZANU PF members to return to the people`s Party without success, hence resorting to smear campaigns.
“There is no noise in the cockpit. The party agreed that for the 2023 elections, President Emmerson Mnangagwa is our sole Presidential candidate. Sponsored sentiments from hired expelled parrots are insignificant.
“Delusions of the grandeur by expelled members sponsored by some members of the fallen G40 cabal. There is only one ZANU PF Party led by President Mnangagwa and it will win the 2023 elections resoundingly. Willing tools of the fallen cabal may continue hallucinating, they will not win,” said ZANU PF Deputy Secretary for Security in the Politburo, Tendai Chirau.
ZANU PF Director of Information and Publicity, Tafadzwa Mugwadi added that those coming between President Mnangagwa and his lieutenants would be dealt with in accordance.
“The consequences will be tragic for those who think they can come between the President and his lieutenants. On one side is Cde ED Mnangagwa the President of ZANU PF and on the other side is His Excellency ED Mnangagwa the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe. The boys faltered on the later,” said Mugwadi.
Netizen, Favour Matenga said that Kunaka and the G40 cabal had failed in their attempts to drive a wedge between President ED and VP Chiwenga through misinformation and smear campaigns.
“The divisive elements like Jim Kunaka and the G40 cabal have been trying to drive a wedge between ED and his VP for their own political traction, have been shamed by the VP who has confirmed his unwavering support for his principal,” said Matenga.
In November 2021, VP Chiwenga endorsed President Mnangagwa as the 2023 Presidential candidate while officiating at a launch of the Pfumvudza/Intwasa programme at Nenyunka Primary School in Gokwe North.
“At the just ended National People`s Conference in Bindura, the ruling Party resoundingly endorsed President Mnangagwa as the sole candidate for the 2023 Harmonised General Elections. No other thought or candidate will be entertained as that is the party position,” said VP Chiwenga.
Sarah Chizanga added that, “Desperation manifests when people start believing that Godfrey Tsenengamu, Temba Mliswa and Jim Kunaka can change ZANU PF’s course and that of Zimbabwe. They are only out to earn some few Embassy coins like Jacob Ngarivhume, Hopewell Chin`ono et al.”
