Prof Moyo exposes CCC’s duplicity

Self-exiled former Cabinet Minister, Professor Jonathan Moyo has castigated Citizen’s Coalition for Change (CCC) leadership for their double standards of calling the newly appointed members of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) young while warning them against dragging the non-partisan Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) into their political party affairs.

Prof Moyo said this on his twitter handle while responding to claims that the new ZEC Commissioners are too young and incapable of stopping meddling by the military on electoral issues.

“Oh, if so, how about a president who is too young?” questioned Prof Moyo.

Journalist, Robert Mukondiwa added that the assertion that the new commissioners were too young was preposterous and invalidated as they can carry out their mandate without doubt.

“The story is preposterous, 18 year olds can vote, run for office, occupy positions in political parties, free countries through warfare, surely they can administer plebiscites and defend the process.  The current ones are dinosaurs and still accused of failing. It’s willingness not age,” said Mukondiwa.

Another Netizen only identified as Mqondisi said, “First it was the relation of one of the Commissioners to the Vice President Kembo Mohadi, now it’s their ages that are being questioned, what is it going to be next?”

CCC member, Rashweat Mukundu claimed the new Commissioners were too young to stop the meddling of the army in the electoral affairs of the country.

“The ages of the commissioners means that they are easy to intimidate and they are compromised by their connections and relations,” said Mukundu.

Meanwhile, other political commentators have pointed out that the president of the CCC, Nelson Chamisa is also young, with some analysts saying this boils down to the factions within the CCC party, where the majority of Chamisa’s executive feels that he is unable to lead that party to victory in the 2023 plebiscite due to his childish politics.
