ZANU PF has shown the exit door to its Director of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Cde Munyaradzi Katsande and has suspended Director for Administration, Cde Dickson Dzora, for gross incompetence.
Briefing the media yesterday, ZANU PF national spokesperson, Cde Christopher Mutsvangwa, said Cde Katsande was fired for tampering with party registers during the provincial elections held last month, while Cde Dzora was suspended for gross incompetence.
“We have our director general, Cde Dickson Dzora, he is on suspension. He was suspended on the instruction and directive of President ED Mnangagwa. He has been unhappy about many wayward activities, which have been going on at the Party. But the last straw was the gross incompetence and perhaps they were connived by Dickson Dzora and his team to run the last elections and just generate chaos all over the ten provinces. That was really enough for the President,” said Cde Mutsvangwa.
Cde Mutsvangwa added that Cde Dzora was also suspended for abuse of tender procedures to favour ghost companies.
“There was also an investigation which was carried by the Party’s security department on the abuse of tender procedures to favour ghost companies, which may have been related to him. So he is gone. He is under suspension. It has been confirmed by Cde Obert Mpofu, who is the Secretary General of the Party,” said Cde Mutsvangwa.
The national spokesperson further said that the President fired Cde Katsande for tampering with the party registers during last month’s provincial elections.
“President Mnangagwa himself fired another official in the ICT department, Cde Katsande. He was fired because he was found tampering with registers for the voters for the past provincial elections in the Party,” added Cde Mutsvangwa.
Cde Mutsvangwa further said that the firing of Cde Katsande and suspension of Cde Dzora shows that the Party takes its internal elections seriously and would not tolerate anyone who would want to defile the process.
Meanwhile, Cde Mutsvangwa told the media that the Party was ready for the by-elections slatted for March 26 this year. He revealed that a number of Party members have shown enthusiasm to participate in the by-elections, and nearly 120 candidates have shown interest to contest in the available 28 parliamentary seats.
