The political formation #Tyson Wabantu Movement which is led by former Zanu PF Political Commissar, Saviour Kasukuwere is planning to stage a series of demonstrations starting from 6 June in Harare, the Harare Post has learnt.

A contact within the movement revealed to this publication that Kasukuwere’s spokesperson Ntokozo Msipa, is said to have tasked former Zanu PF Harare Province Youth Chairperson, Jimmy Kunaka, to mobilise about 100 youths who will be divided into groups, to carry out the illegal demonstrations.

The same contact revealed that USD$1 000 had been mobilised, which Kunaka would use to pay participants. It is alleged that the former leader of South Africa`s opposition Democratic Alliance Mmusi Maimane is the one sponsoring the demos and had initially wanted to donate USD$2 000 for the intended demonstrations.

Maimane, the contact said, promised the movement members more money if the inaugural demonstration is successfully executed.

This publication has learnt that on 1 June 2020, Kasukuwere’s movement distributed flyers and broadcasted a video to psyche  up the youths for the demonstrations.

The video clips which were widely circulated on social media castigated the Government, alleging that  it was characterised by looting of state resources, nepotism, incompetence and human rights violations.

The intended demonstrations by the movement, which are being organised by Msipa and Andri Ruzani, a businessman based in Cape Town, South Africa, are expected to attract the attention of the International community, thereby giving spotlight to Kasukuwere who is planning to bounce back to the Zimbabwe’s political arena to revive his waning political fortunes.

It is on record that the opposition parties provoke the ruling Government with unsanctioned demonstrations so as to raise an uproar of alleged human rights abuses, if these machinations are thwarted by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).

Currently, the country is battling COVID-19 pandemic and is on lockdown and gatherings of whatsoever nature are not allowed to curb, the spread of the virus.

On 4 June, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) denied ZANU PF permission to demonstrate at the US Embassy in Harare following, the brutal killing of George Floyd, a black America at the hands of the American police in Minneapolis.
