Former ZANU PF National Political Commissar and leader of the #Tyson waBantu Movement, Saviour Kasukuwere has hinted at plans to return to Zimbabwe, to revive his waning political career and fill the opposition political vacuum left by the disintegration of the MDC, the Harare Post can report.
The MDC is currently embroiled in a leadership wrangle pitting Nelson Chamisa and Thokozani Khupe. The factional fights has threatened to destroy the 21 year old opposition political outfit as fights are escalating unabated.
Kasukuwere is alleged to be planning to take advantage of the chaos in the main opposition party to launch his 2023 presidential ambitions.
Yesterday, Kasukuwere wrote on his Twitter timeline that he is preparing to journey back home from his self-imposed exile to allegedly help rebuild the nation.
“Our nation is facing huge challenges and the time is now to start journeying back home. Zimbabwe belongs to us all and we can’t bury our heads in the sand through fear. COVID-19 has changed the landscape and we have to rebuild our nation. It won’t be easy, but has to be done,” tweeted Kasukuwere.
An insider in the Kasukuwere’s #Tyson waBantu Movement who spoke to this publication on condition of anonymity, said plans are already underway to welcome Kasukuwere at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport when he comes.
“Arrangement to welcome Tyson (Kasukuwere) are now at an advanced stage. There is a businessman whom I can’t name who has already pledged several buses to ferry people to the airport to welcome mdhara (Kasukuwere)”, said the insider.
The same insider said Kasukuwere was coming back to fulfil the purported mandate he was given by the late former President Robert Mugabe to take the leadership reins of the country.
“Kasukuwere was anointed by Gushungo (Mugabe) to be the next leader of Zimbabwe and he has been endorsed by the youths also,” said the insider.
Since the announcement of the return of Kasukuwere from his exile, there has been much activity on the #Tyson waBantu Movement WhatsApp groups.
A member of the Tyson wa Bantu Movement, Shephard Mavara, told this publication that they are in the process of recruiting social media volunteers to spread Kasukuwere’s propaganda.
“We are in the process of recruiting social media volunteers. We are targeting at least 100 volunteers per District who will spread Kasukuwere’s message on various social media sites. Currently, we have provincial WhatsApp groups, but, we are working to have at least one active WhatsApp group per Ward,” said Mavara
Mavara also revealed that an Online paper, the Northern Times, was launched yesterday, to market Kasukuwere to the generality of the populace. According to Mavara, plans are underway to transform the online paper into a mainstream publication. The online paper is being run by one journalist known as Peter Moyo.
Presently, plans are afoot to recruit journalists to join the Northern Times to spin propaganda for Kasukuwere.
Zimbabweans have already rejected Kasukuwere through snubbing his #Tyson waBantu Movement because of his tainted political past. Kasukuwere is a self-proclaimed political thug who in the past, unleashed violence on his perceived political opponents. His intended return will be a litmus test for him, to see if he can successfully re-invent himself to a strong presidential contender for the 2023 elections.
