As a show of confidence to the new dispensation led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, the United Kingdom has started to repatriate Zimbabweans living in that country without adequate documents citing the peaceful environment that currently exists in Zimbabwe.

“The Government is currently in the process of verifying the identity of people who are earmarked for repatriation,” revealed a source who denied to be identified.

The source from the Department of Social Welfare further revealed that it was mainly concerned with the reintegration into society of the individuals due for repatriation.

“Most of these individuals are people who have lived in the United Kingdom for many years but have failed to obtain the necessary documents that warrant them to stay and work in the United Kingdom,” reiterated the source.

“The bulk of people on the repatriation list are volunteers who prefer to come back home to try their chance in the new dispensation after President Mnangwagwa’s call for Zimbabweans to come back home and help rebuild the country,” added the source.

The Departments of Immigration, Social Welfare, Registrar General and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are seized with the matter to ensure that the repatriation exercise will also give the individuals concerned a lifeline on arrival back home.
