Disgruntled members of #Tajamuka/Sesijikile have resolved to form a splinter movement after failing to expel the movement’s Organising Secretary, Promise Mkwananzi over abuse of donor funds.
The new splinter movement, Mukai/vhukani will be led by Professor David Chigudu who is the former National Chairperson of #Tajamuka.
Attempts to expel Mkwananzi failed after he argued that no one could fire him since #Tajamuka was his creation.
According to source within the new splinter group, the new baby will not be as radical as #Tajamuka.
“As a new creation, gone are the days when we were used in violent protests and regime change agenda. We want to work with Government for the good of the nation. We are fed up of being used as political pawns by some politicians. We are going to be a pressure group that criticises and praises where it is due irrespective of political ideology,” he said.
There is a very thin line between #Tajamuka and the MDC to an extent that the former uses the latter’s grassroots structures. #Tajamuka is just a vehicle for all the violent protests that MDC organises.
Mkwananzi is a former MDC-T Youth Assembly Secretary and is notorious for committing public violence in demonstrations organised by both MDC and #Tajamuka. In 2016, Mkwananzi was arrested during a Nera Demo. He was also key in organising protests against Statutory Instrument 64.
In 2017, Mkwananzi abused thousands of dollars mobilised to bankroll #Tajamuka activities. Instead of distributing the funds to people on the ground, he diverted it for his own personal use.
