As the ZANU PF’s 17th Annual Conference roars to life, business in Bulawayo has received timeous boost as delegates arrive for the indaba.
Most delegates are booked for accommodation in Bulawayo as Esigodini has no infrastructural capacity to accommodate the more than 3500 delegates.
Business owners said the ZANU PF indaba has brought great business that will go a long way in stabilising their operations.
“Our hotel and other accommodation places in Bulawayo are fully booked for the ZANU PF conference. The conference affords us a chance to restock and showcase Bulawayo city to the world,” said a hotel owner, Yunus Patel.
Supermarkets are also registering good business as delegates shop around for provisions in preparation for the three day indaba.
Transport companies are also making big returns as they ferry delegates around Bulawayo city to and from the conference venue at Mzingwane High School.
“The number of clients who are using our taxis has increased in the past two days. Business is good as we are ferrying more people than we usually do on a normal day,” said Ishmael Ndlovu, a taxi owner.
Other businesses are also taking the opportunity to market their products at the ZANU PF Conference exhibition that is running concurrently with the indaba.
“The exhibition brings us closer to the top officials in the country who are likely to offer us good business deals,” said Dikies Traditional Food official.
Meanwhile, Mzingwane High School has benefited from the conference as it has received a 3km road to the school.
