Re-inventing the wheel
Tyson is trying to re-invent the wheel, after realising that its cold out there, he now wants to come back promising to bring development to the people. What development can he talk of now which he failed to institute when he was still in Government?
Kasukuwere’s popularity was only linked to his membership in ZANU PF. Now that he is out of ZANU PF all that false popularity is gone and he is scratching on the surface trying to make a political comeback and get a foothold which is proving to be a far-fetched dream. Unfortunately for him he is landing on shacky ground full of quick sand and he will soon sink like the Titanic ship.
Community Ownership Trusts
When Kasukuwere spoke so much about black empowerment, he had no one in mind, but himself. Before the consummation of community ownership trusts, Kasukuwere and his allies had lined up themselves to grab 51% shareholding in these foreign owned companies with communities benefitting nothing. He lost the plot when some traditional leaders from Mashonaland West Province who include Chiefs Murambwi and Benhura visited Royal Bafokeng in South Africa in 2011 to learn how South African traditional leaders were benefiting from resources being extracted from their areas of jurisdiction and questioned his proposed implementation of the empowerment project.
Had the Chiefs not taken this bold step, Kasukuwere and crew would have lined their pockets with free shares. If Kasukuwere could plan to steal from the community what more would he do when he gets into power?
Residential stands
Kasukuwere took civil servants for a ride when he promised then residential stands in Chishawasha which never materialised. By taking civil servants for fools, Kasukuwere is forgetting these are opinion leaders in society and the general populace will soon be told that he is the biggest crook who should not be voted into power.
Media blitz
Realising that his 2023 presidential candidature was insupportable, Kasukuwere decided to launch a media blitz to market him to the electorate. Nyama yakanaka inotaura yega (good meat does not need too much advertising). To make his efforts to stand a chance, he roped in journalists offloaded by Zimpapers among them Mduduzi Mathuthu and Edmund Kudzai to spruce up his image.
Above that he has started Whatsapp groups for each province, but alas the public is not interested in backing him because of his dirty past.
Leopard’s spots
The Bible in Jeremiah 13 verse 23 reads “Can the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard his spots? No matter what amount of detergents are used to clean Kasukuwere, his murky past still makes him unacceptable.
Kasukuwere earned the nickname Tyson because of his involvement in fist fights. That violent nature is part of Kasukuwere’s DNA and the electorate does not want to associate with such a person.
Mugabe ticket
In a bid to make himself the darling of the electorate, Kasukuwere has been making reference to his days with the late former President, Robert Mugabe. He does not have his own legacy, hence his media team posts photographs of Kasukuwere with Mugabe on different occasions. This does not enhance his personal brand in anyway.
Kasukuwere and his other G40 kingpins namely Professor Jonathan Moyo and Patrick Zhuwao used the funeral of Mugabe to get into the limelight, but that failed to rally people on their side.
Tyson/ MDC same Whatsapp group
Kasukuwere has wadded into the same regime change mantra that the MDC has been chanting since 1999. He thought by riding on the MDC mantra it would make him to garner followers and sympathisers, but it’s proving to be a tough political journey for him and he won’t last the distance.
Not a new creature
For the sake of gaining the favour of the electorate, Kasukuwere wants to portray himself as politically born again. In his skewed vision, he thinks he can draw support from both ZANU PF and the MDC and emerge as the winner of the 2023 presidential election. The electoral mathematics that Kasukuwere is banking on will never see him winning that crucial election. He should draw lessons from how Dr Simba Makoni and Dr Joice Mujuru came out of ZANU PF and their Presidential bid never materialised.
Kasukuwere the coward
Recently, Kasukuwere’s ally Prof Moyo made stunning revelations on their escape. Prof Moyo pointed out that Kasukuwere just put on his bullet proof vest and rode in a Land Cruiser that was sent for them from Blue Roof leaving his family alone behind. Such cowardice is not expected from someone vying for a higher office. As a man he was supposed to leave last, hence to now call himself “Tyson Wabantu” is a misnomer.
