Chamisa snubbed yesterday`s dialogue citing that his pre-dialogue conditions were not addressed.
MDC Secretary General, Douglas Mwonzora and many other party officials believe that the dialogue is the only way to go.
Mwonzora on his twitter page posted, “We must jettison the politics of hate, intolerance and polarisation and embrace the politics of rational disputation and genuine dialogue. We owe this duty our future generations. Political protagonists have to be brought together to dialogue genuinely and inclusively.”
MDC Chief of staff to Chamisa, Sesil Zvizvai wrote a letter to Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Mishek Sibanda stating conditions which President Mnangagwa had to meet before the dialogue takes off.
“The MDC believes that genuine dialogue can only take place if regionally facilitated and mediated by SADC and guaranteed by the AU and the UN. It is also our view and position that genuine dialogue can only take place when a conducive environment has been created for the same,” he said.
Speaking to Harare Post on condition of anonymity, one MDC official said Chamisa was being selfish in snubbing the national dialogue and should learn a thing or two from the late MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai.
“Dialogue is the way to go and Chamisa is just being selfish. He should know that this is no longer student politics. This dialogue is for the greater good of the nation not about the legitimacy issues he is always talking about.
“Chamisa should learn from the life of the late Morgan Tsvangirai and work together with President Mnangagwa and other leaders to solve problems in the country. Tsvangirai died a statesman because he was not selfish. Following the serious deterioration of the economy, Tsvangirai compromised and joined the Government of National Unity (GNU) and this helped solve issues for the greater good of the nation,” he said.
