The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and security across the country, assuring Zimbabweans of a safe environment for social and economic activities.
In a press statement issued by ZRP Chief Staff Officer for Press and Public Relations, Commissioner Paul Nyathi yesterday, the Police acknowledged the prevailing peaceful environment, while emphasising the importance of law and order.
"The Zimbabwe Republic Police acknowledges the peaceful environment currently obtaining in the country and urges the public to continue undertaking social and economic activities without any disturbances," the statement read.
To ensure continued stability, ZRP has deployed officers in both urban and rural areas to safeguard law and order.
The Police also warned against individuals and groups attempting to disrupt peace, particularly through misinformation on social media.
"The law will definitely take its course against individuals and groups who seek to undermine peace and security in the country, including those using social media to cause alarm and despondency among Zimbabweans," the statement continued.
The ZRP urged the public to cooperate with security officers by reporting any persons inciting violence or interfering with smooth traffic flow.
Citizens were also encouraged to report criminal activities and public disturbances through the National Complaints Desk at (0242) 703631 or via WhatsApp at 0712 800197.
The statement comes as the Government continues with its efforts to maintain national stability, with law enforcement playing a critical role in ensuring public safety and the uninterrupted flow of daily activities.
