Mt Darwin South legislator Kudakwashe Mupamhanga has committed to working closely with the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development to rehabilitate roads within his constituency, in line with national infrastructure development objectives.

Speaking to this publication after an interactive meeting with the leadership of the Johane Masowe Vadzidzi Vajesu sect at Goora yesterday, Mt Darwin South, Mupamhanga emphasised the importance of functional road networks for the constituency’s socio-economic advancement.

"Good roads are vital for the development of our constituency. I will join hands with the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development to ensure that roads within Mt Darwin South are repaired and maintained to standard," Mupamhanga said.

He also highlighted his proactive involvement, stating that he had already released fuel required for the road rehabilitation team’s operations, including facilitating the transportation of premix materials from Glendale.

Mupamhanga reiterated Government's commitment to infrastructure development under the Second Republic, noting that Mt Darwin South would fully benefit from such initiatives.

"The Second Republic has placed infrastructure development at the heart of its developmental agenda, and Mt Darwin South will not be exempted. Roads here will be upgraded to meet modern standards," he added.

This publication observed Ministry of Transport workers actively repairing potholes along the stretch between Goora and Mt Darwin Town.

Further investigations revealed comprehensive plans to rehabilitate critical routes such as the Mt Darwin-Rushinga Road, the Mt Darwin Town to Dotito Road, and several other roads within the constituency.

Mt Darwin Town Board Chairperson Councillor Munashe Kapasura welcomed the initiative, underlining that good road infrastructure is essential for economic growth, investor attraction, and overall community prosperity.

"Quality roads link Mt Darwin town to other significant economic hubs. They attract investors, enable farmers to access markets easily, enhance the town’s aesthetic appeal, and align perfectly with President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030, which emphasises robust infrastructure development nationwide," Kapasura said.

Echoing Kapasura’s sentiments, Vice Chairman of the Mt Darwin Town Board, Councillor Christopher Rari, added his voice in support of the project, stressing its potential to stimulate local economic activity.

"Roads are a backbone of economic growth. Improved roads in Mt Darwin South will lead to increased business opportunities, benefiting everyone from the farmer to the trader," Rari affirmed.

The ongoing road repairs have been positively received by residents, who anticipate transformative improvements in travel, trade, and overall quality of life in Mt Darwin South.
